We left the dock with a light drizzle and headed for striped bass country. After a short ride the skies opened up and the rain came and stayed with us until 11:45 A.M. Everyone aboard was soaked to the bone. The hot rod was Roger who caught his limit. Mr. October started "His Month" off with a 17 lb. striper and it proved to be the big money fish. Evelyn, Pete G, and Vern also contributed some blues. In addition, they caught and released several short stripers. Vern continued to use his special baits and had a few nice fish. Back to the dock by 1:30 P.M. and everyone was happy to get there.

Capt. Andy says "The Stripers Are Here". Anyone interested in striper fishing should contact him at 201-792-2601. Charters are also available during the week.

Aboard today on the PIONEER III were George Gasbar (Gasparino's Restaurant in NYC), Kenny Peck (Famous Horse Handicapper writing for the Racing Form newspaper), Retired Hoboken Police Captain Steve "Fluffy" Darago, Mark Singleton (Singleton/Galmann Real Estate located in Hoboken, NJ), Michael Hennesey (MH Construction, Hoboken, NJ) and Mr. October. We left the dock around 8 AM looking for stripers and blues. Capt. Andy located the blues and over the rail they came. Off to a slow start was Mark but that didn't last long. Mike, who never fished before, also got off to a slow start but then got going and landed a good number of fish with a few instructions from Mr. October. George, Kenny and Mr. October had steady action. A pair of keeper weakfish were caught with Kenny and Fluffy each boating one. Great day, great food, great people and lots of laughs.

Today was the official last Sunday of the summer. It was a beautiful day and the first sea bass trip was a grand slam. Aboard were Mr. October, Tim Longendyke and Mark Ratta, both of West Paterson, NJ, Jimmy Gardner, Pete G., Roger Miller and back after a brief vacation was Mikey "Beers" Mrozowski, first mate. Mikey was just in time to handle the anchors and what a job he did. The first couple of stops were very productive and then the tide stopped. We tried a couple of drifts and all I saw were keeper sea bass coming over the rail. Tim hooked up with the largest striped bass of the day about 10 lbs and Roger Miller also connected with a keeper. A few more shorts were landed and released. Three unusual fish were brought aboard which were a keeper porgy by Pete G. which was donated to Jimmy Gardner, a trigger fish caught by Mr. October and confiscated by Capt. Andy and a blow fish caught by Roger "King Of The Road" Miller also confiscated by you know who. Both Roger and Pete G. caught sea bass weighing 3.7 lbs. and split the big money. Evelyn had the day off and hopefully she will be back next week. Also quite a few short tog were caught and released. Just a reminder BLACKFISH season opens October 1st and we are allowed to keep 10. If you're interested, let us know.
